Missouri Got Rec’d

Going Recreational in Missouri

Wondergrove Cannabis & Weedmaps Co-Sponsored Event Celebrated the End of Cannabis Prohibition in Missouri

On February 2, 2023 Bloom Medicinals and its parent company, Wondergrove Cannabis, co-sponsored a rec launch party with Weedmaps to celebrate the end of cannabis prohibition in Missouri.

Not only that but, the Missouri’s Getting Rec’d event also commemorated the official launch of Wondergrove Cannabis’ premium brands, Field Trip Flower and Professor Cron X (concentrates and cartridges).

The guest list to the launch party included local media, cannabis industry professionals, and social media influencers who were treated to one of the best old-school hip-hop performances that Missouri has recently seen.

Besides Wondergrove and Weedmaps, additional sponsors of the event included Doobie, Contempo, illicit, Timeless, Elevate, Vertical, Puffco, and Head Change – among others.

The original plan was for medical marijuana dispensaries in Missouri to apply for a comprehensive license that would allow them to serve both medical patients and recreational customers starting on Monday, February 6.

The State of Missouri Stays True to Its Word

Then, as luck would have it, on Thursday, Feb 2nd, the State of Missouri stayed true to its promise to help medical cannabis companies transition to recreational sales as soon as possible. A little after 2:30 PM on Thursday afternoon, they let us know that recreational sales could begin on Friday, February 3.

As you can imagine, this added an air of excitement to Missouri’s Getting REC’d Launch Party – which kicked off Thursday evening.

The event was held at Off Broadway, which is St. Louis’ longest running independent venue and featured a performance by hip hop supergroup, Czarface – featuring Inspectah Deck from the Wu-Tang Clan.

The party started at 8:00 with a VIP Meet & Greet where cannabis industry professionals enjoyed some great music compliments of DJ Largechild and had a chance to network ahead of the launch of recreational sales.

Wondergrove’s Iconic Purple Sets the Mood

At 9:00 the Sensi All-Stars took the stage which featured lighting to match Wondergrove’s iconic purple as well as a backdrop of downtown St. Louis with the famous Gateway Arch.

In addition to the warm and inviting scene inside, some party goers braved the cold weather and enjoyed some good vibes and great conversation as they stayed warm by the fire.

As the Sensi All-Stars treated everyone to some funky tunes, those in attendance enjoyed tasty cannabis treats which included a:

  • Bud Bar sponsored by Field Trip Flower – including the award-winning premium cannabis genetics of Missouri’s own Brother Mendel’s Selections
  • Dab Bar sponsored by Head Change
  • Pre-Roll Bar sponsored by Elevate
  • THC-Infused Smores Bar sponsored by Panda By Nuthera

The Sensi All-Stars Give a Shout Out to Legal Weed

The Sensi All-Stars are based out of Boston and its members are employees at Sensi Magazine, which is a cannabis industry/lifestyle magazine. Before finishing their set, the Sensi All-Stars gave a shout out to the end of cannabis prohibition in Missouri by performing their own version of Peter Tosh’s hit, Legalize It.

Then, just as the purple lights, cannabis treats, and funky music had soothed the crowd into a nice mellow vibe, the party was infused with some energy when Czarface took the stage at 11:00 PM.

Hip-Hop Supergroup, Czarface, Rocks the House

Czarface is a supergroup made up of hip-hop duo, 7L & Esoteric, along with rap legend, Inspectah Deck, from the Wu-Tang Clan. Czarface got the crowd going by playing some of their most well known songs. The crowd was also treated to some of Inspectah Deck’s verses from Wu-Tang Clan classics.

Here’s what David Von Nordheim of theartsstl.com had to say about Czarface’s performance:

The charisma and stage presence of Esoteric and Inspectah Deck is truly off the charts … . Swift, verbose, and highly technical rapping in the style that Inspectah Deck and Esoteric have perfected has largely fallen out of fashion with mainstream audiences, making performances like their set at Off Broadway all the more vital… .1

Wondergrove and Bloom Treat Guests to an Unforgettable Experience

The highlight of the night was when Czarface invited the Sensi All-Stars back on stage for an encore that included some impressive improvisation.

Inspectah Deck improvised raps along to the Sensi All-Stars’ improvised music. It is safe to say that those in attendance left knowing that they had just been treated to a once-in-a-lifetime musical experience.

Word on the street is that many of the evening’s performers also walked away with a newfound appreciation for Missouri grown cannabis.
