Bloom Medicinals Wins Two Medical Marijuana Cultivation Licenses in Missouri

Bloom Medicinals has been awarded two medical marijuana cultivation licenses in the state of Missouri. One cultivation site will be in Plattsburg, a suburb of Kansas City, and the other site will be in O’Fallon, outside of St. Louis.
Missouri’s Department of Health and Senior Services (DHSS) used a rigorous, blind application process to choose 60 companies from over 500 applicants.
“Throughout this entire process, it has been important to us to be fair and transparent as we implement all pieces of this program,” said Lyndall Fraker, director of the DHSS Section for Medical Marijuana Regulation, on the department’s website. “This is why we chose to employ a ‘blind’ application scorer who had no access to applicants’ identifying information.”
Dr. Randall Williams, director of DHSS, was pleased with Mr. Fraker and the selection process. “I’m incredibly appreciative of Lyndall and his entire team for getting Missouri to this pivotal point,” said Dr. Williams, also on the department’s website. “The manner in which they have efficiently actualized the amendment that voters approved last year is an excellent example of good governance.”
Medical Marijuana Cultivation Provides Jobs
“It was a tough process, and we were thrilled to learn we won not one but two medical marijuana cultivation licenses,” said Nicole van Rensburg, CEO of Bloom Medicinals. “I’m proud of the team here at Bloom Medicinals and everyone who worked on the application, and honored that Missouri chose us. Everyone at Bloom Medicinals is excited and we’re looking forward to the next steps and building the two cultivation sites.”
Bloom Medicinals will build two brand new medical marijuana cultivation facilities on newly purchased land in Plattsburg and O’Fallon, providing dozens of carpentry, plumbing, electrical and other jobs at both sites.
“While we create jobs in our cannabis facilities, it’s also great to see local construction, supply and other jobs created when we come to town to build facilities like these,” said van Rensburg. “We’ll also need to staff the two sites and we can’t wait to break ground and get the ball rolling,” she added.
